Wow, what a relief that the crowdfunding campaign is over – what a marathon! I am so happy! I had such a deep relaxed sleep last night, and I awoke feeling the weight of the world lifted from my shoulders.
Thank you for getting on board the Doc Bus!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated, shared and promoted our campaign! With online and offline donations, we made almost $6000 – enough money to buy gas from Mile 0 to Mile 0 and back, and a little extra to pay for the website! FANTASTIC! I am thrilled! YOU ALL ROCK!
The Fundraising has just begun!
While the campaign didn’t raise the full goal, I’m confident that we will generate the funds we need along the way. I will be making it easy for folks to donate on our website throughout the trip and we’ll be passing the Doc Bus hat at every stop. We have 3 fundraising events already planned: on May 29 at Full Circle Studio in Victoria, June 1st in Vancouver and June 4th in Penticton! Stay tuned for more details about these fun events.
Friendraising across Canada
The campaign did succeed in raising a lot of awareness and excitement about the journey. The response has been overwhelming: I’ve heard from film lovers, filmmakers and event organizers in 30 or more cities & towns across Canada! And dozens (hundreds?) of people have told me how inspiring and important this project is. I feel very supported in so many ways.
Next: Website Launch & Roadtrip Planning!
Ahhh! Now I can get on with the important work of getting ready to leave on a very long roadtrip! Next week, we’ll be launching our new website, thanks to Avi Lambert‘s hard work. I’ll also be meeting with the three (yes three!) Doc Bus interns to organize the database, trip planning and scheduling meetings and events across the country! Welcome aboard to awesome interns Andrina Fawcett, Lauren Delaronde and Lucy Ding! More details to come!
