Shatford Arts Centre, Penticton

We arrived in Penticton at 4pm on Monday June 3rd, and we headed straight for the Shatford Arts Centre to meet with Jane Shatford and her team. I was concerned about arriving with an ambitious technical experiment, and I wanted to make sure we had a chance to connect before diving into our Connected in Two Cities event on Tuesday June 4th, 2013.

A warm welcome awaited us:  we were treated to dinner at filmmaker, educator and restaurateur Nikos Theodosakis family business Theos Restaurant.

Nikos Theodosakis and Jane Shaak helped us to make the first Doc Bus stop a memorable one!

Jane is organizing a We Love Documentary Festival in October, and invited me to return to participate in that. The conversation revealed that there are a few more organizations in Penticton that I should contact, but I will have to that when I return in the fall.

It took us a lot longer then we had anticipated to set up the 3-way livestream feed. We all learned a lot!

Our experiment was a success! We connected Sunset Room, Victoria; Shatford Centre, Penticton and Tiffany Shlain in California in an engaging conversation about what it means to be connected in the 21st century.
